CalCAN Summit 2013

Farming for the Future:
California Climate & Agriculture Summit

February 21, 2013  •  8:00am — 6:30pm
UC Davis Conference Center

The Summit included presentations, a poster session, wine & cheese reception and an optional farm tour
on Feb. 20th. It brings together farmers and ranchers, agency staff, farm advisors, policymakers and advocates concerned with climate change challenges and opportunities for California agriculture.

Farm Tour
Feb. 20th, 10:00am – 4:00pm

Participants visited a commercial walnut farm and two research and education sites of the
Agricultural Sustainability Institute at UC Davis. Learn about the role of compost, cover cropping, hedgerows and more in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing climate change resilience.

The tour included:
•  UC Davis Russell Ranch Sustainable Agriculture Facility research center
•  UC Davis Student Farm
•  Sierra Orchards organic walnut farm
