FARM FIELD DAY RESOURCE LIST

CalCAN organized a farm field day on April 9th, 2010 at two farms near Winters, CA, to hear from farmer leaders about their farming practices with climate benefits. A resource list was generated from the discussion and questions that arose during the field day. Topics included:

  • Cover cropping to sequester carbon in the soil
  • Application of char ash amendment to reduce nitrous oxide emissions
  • Biodigester renewable energy production
  • Vineyard management to minimize pesticides and erosion
  • Maximizing natural systems
  • Elements of certified organic systems that have climate benefits
