{"id":14641,"date":"2021-04-26T10:00:36","date_gmt":"2021-04-26T17:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/calcanstaging.kinsta.cloud\/?p=14641"},"modified":"2021-06-28T15:53:16","modified_gmt":"2021-06-28T22:53:16","slug":"provide-input-on-state-and-federal-climate-agriculture-strategies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/calclimateag.org\/es\/provide-input-on-state-and-federal-climate-agriculture-strategies\/","title":{"rendered":"Provide Input on State and Federal Climate &#038; Agriculture Strategies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are several policies and programs at both the state and federal level that are open for public input right now.<\/p>\n<p>CalCAN is submitting comments and attending these different sessions to help scale up existing, shove-ready solutions \u2013 like the practices supported by the <a href=\"https:\/\/calclimateag.org\/es\/climatesmartag\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Climate Smart Agriculture Programs<\/a> \u2013 among other agricultural strategies to address the climate crisis.<\/p>\n<h2>California Policies &amp; Programs<\/h2>\n<p>The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is seeking public comment for <strong>Farmer- and Rancher-Led Climate Solutions Listening Sessions<\/strong>\u00a0report. You can read the report\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdfa.ca.gov\/oefi\/climate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">aqu\u00ed<\/a>\u00a0and submit comments to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:cdfa.oefi@cdfa.ca.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cdfa.oefi@cdfa.ca.gov<\/a> by April 30, 2021 at 5pm PST.\u00a0 The listening sessions and comments on the report \u00a0will ultimately inform the implementation of both Governor Newsom\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/calclimateag.org\/es\/governor-newsom-announces-plan-for-advancing-agricultural-climate-solutions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Natural and Working Lands Executive Order<\/a> and the state\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ww2.arb.ca.gov\/our-work\/programs\/ab-32-climate-change-scoping-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Climate Change Scoping Plan<\/a>. The 2020 executive order directs state agencies focused on natural and working lands (e.g., CDFA, Natural Resources Department) to deploy strategies that mitigate climate change. The Scoping Plan is essentially a roadmap for achieving California\u2019s ambitious climate goals, and includes a chapter on agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>Many CalCAN farmer partners attended these listening sessions and provided some valuable feedback included in the report.
